Saturday update

I accidentally lied in the last post. My dad lost 12.9 pounds of fluid from the diuretic, not 14.8. Sorry!

Not much new. They're going to try to wean him off the ventilator, which is good. It's better for him to be able to breathe on his own than to have to have the ventilator.

Today when Melissa and I were talking to him, his left eye slid open a crack. It wasn't much, but it was encouraging. Maybe he knows we're there? Maybe he wants to wake up?

I really, really want him to wake up before we have to go home on Wednesday. Let's pray for that! Progress is so slooooooow now. If he doesn't make some great improvements before Tuesday, they're going to do an MRI to see if there's some soft tissue damage that they aren't aware of. (Let's hope there isn't!)

Praise God for our friends and family! I really miss our church family. It seems like it's been so long since we've seen them. They are such great friends to us. The Brewsters, Sturmans, and Perrons made Luke dinners when he was home alone. (They must've thought he wouldn't survive as a bachelor, haha.) Then the Brewsters, Sturmans, and Dows made us the nicest gift box of stuff (gas gift card, water bottles, apples, trail mix, cookies, banana bread, chips and homemade salsa...yum!). Truly, we have the best friends. We thank God for them!

On a completely unrelated note, I just had to kill the hugest spider in my parents' basement. It was not much smaller than Argi, although not quite as scary looking. Why do spiders seem to follow me around? Ugh.

And welcome home to the newlyweds - Dan and Emily Stauch! We love you two!
